Our Area: Blue Ridge Mountains and Asheville
Our stables and horseback riding trails are located in Wolf Laurel Preserve, a private, gated mountain top community that adjoins Wolf Laurel Resort in the
Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina. With an elevation of
approximately 4,800 feet, this 1,300 acre master planned community offers
long-range views and an ideal climate. In addition, property owners may enjoy
the many exciting amenities including golf, tennis, swimming, skiing, our horseback
riding, and miles of trails with direct access to the Appalachian Trail.
Next door is the Wolf Ridge Ski Resort (come back in the winter!). Snow ski and snowboard at Wolf Ridge Slopes and enjoy the cool, crisp mountain air on top of Western North Carolina's top rated ski slope. Wolf Ridge Ski Resort is a family oriented ski slope that offers 65 acres of fantastic terrain for the beginner to the expert in skiing or snowboarding that is perfect for everyone. Wolf Ridge Slopes operates with two double lifts, one quad lift, a surface lift and a magic carpet lift.
We are located in beautiful Madison County. In Marshall, the county seat, walk down historic Main Street or go to the Depot for traditional music and dancing on Friday nights. You'll want to attend the annual Lunsford Music Festival, held the first weekend of October and named for Bascom Lamar Lunsford, the father of folk music who was born right here in Madison.
Visit the town of Hot Springs, an outdoor enthusiast's paradise, with the Appalachian Trail, whitewater rafting and canoeing on the French Broad River. Then relax in North Carolina's only hot mineral baths.
In Mars Hill, stop in at the Rural Life Museum on the Mars Hill College campus or take in a play at the Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre. Mars Hill College remains true to its tradition of service, learning and leadership which has been a hallmark of the Mars Hill experience since 1856.
In Asheville, you can access the Blue Ridge Parkway. One of the most scenic roads in America, the Blue Ridge Parkway offers plenty of spots for roadside picnics, breathtaking vistas, easy to difficult hiking, and a reprieve from commercialism. The 469-mile recreational motor road connects Shenandoah and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks.
The most famous landmark in Asheville is the Biltmore Estate, George W. Vanderbilt's 8,000-acre estate with its 250-room Biltmore House, 75 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens, and the nation's most visited winery. Share the wonder of Biltmore House, the largest privately owned home in America, with a priceless collection of arts and antiques original to the Vanderbilt home.
