Helpful Information for our Horseback Rides

Reservations are recommended.
Call 828-678-9370 for reservations.

Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your ride is scheduled to leave. We like to take time to review safety tips and learn about your riding experience. This also gives time for paperwork and payment.

Wolf Laurel Stables is open to the pubic and rides can be scheduled 7 days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM from mid-April through October. Off season or after hours rides may be scheduled by appointment.

All ages are welcome. When making your reservation, please provide information about children’s ages and riding experience so that we can plan for an appropriate number of guides and match the riders with the best horses for their needs. Some children may be required to ride with an adult. We have saddles to accommodate this.

Wear jeans/pants and closed toed shoes (riding boots, tennis shoes, etc.).

Because of our high elevation, temperatures can change quickly.  Bring a jacket!  We’re usually at least 10 degrees cooler than Asheville down in the valley

Helmets are required for persons 18 and under unless authorized by responsible adult.

All major credit cards are accepted.

You are welcome to bring food and/or beverages (no alcohol is allowed prior to rides) and a covered waiting area is available in the Stables area for relaxing by the stream. One of our two-hour rides can include time to stop at a picnic area for a brief picnic if riders would like to pack their lunch for the ride. The six-hour ride to the top of Big Bald Mountain can include time for a picnic at the Angelico Ridge Pavilion. Box lunches can be provided as an option. Call the Stables for more information about selections and pricing.

Bottled water is available for a nominal fee at the Stables.

Picnics are an added option on two hour+ rides.

Rides can take place in rainy weather as long as the trails are not too wet. If you have questions about the weather conditions for your ride, please contact the Stables for more information.

You are welcome to bring a camera with you or you may purchase a disposable camera at the stables.

Safety is our number-one priority. Please let us know if you have any questions.
